Junior Sailing
Junior sailing is available for sailors 9 to 14 years old on Monday evenings from 4:30 until dusk at Crosswinds Boating Center on Jordan Lake. Junior Sailing is open only to sailors who have completed at least a Beginner session in our Sailing Summer Camp or have equivalent experience.
Younger sailors sail in the single-person Opti prams and older sailors are in the two-person 420s. Coaches are always on the water in powerboats with the sailors. Sailors will need Coast Guard approved life jackets, preferably designed for sailing, close-toed water shoes, preferably NOT Crocs, and a water bottle. In cooler weather, sailors may appreciate a wetsuit and neoprene booties.
Sailing in the fall of 2025 will start on September 8 and will end on October 27. Cost for the spring season is $160 for the eight weekly practices.
The Jolly Jordan Regatta is designed as a fun event for first-time or less-experienced Opti and 420 racers, as well as an opportunity for more competitive racing in the Opti RWB category.
Sailors in the Opti Green category will find a fun, welcoming experience for beginner racers. 420 racers are restricted to 9th grade and below, to provide a low-stress regatta experience for sailors early in their racing career.
420 sailors, please pick your sailing partner before registering. Skipper please register first, then crew will identify their skipper when registering.
